About Us
Why We Tear Apart Themes Before You Install Them
The Short Story
It started with one frustrated store-owner, three cups of espresso, and a Shopify theme that looked amazing on the demo—but froze the cart on mobile checkout. We decided someone had to publish what actually happens after the “Add theme” click. So we spun up a blank dev store, stress-tested every preset we could find, and posted the raw results. Other merchants found the notes, shared them, and asked for more. That late-night experiment became Theme Hub.
What Drives Us
Clicks > Copy. Marketing claims mean nothing until we can replicate them.
Speed is a feature. A 2-second LCP beats the prettiest hero video.
Context matters. A theme that sings for fashion might flop for hardware.
Transparency wins trust. If a preset struggles, we say so—affiliate link or not.
How We Test
Fresh install on a clean Shopify dev store—no legacy settings sneaking in.
Customization sprint—color swaps, font changes, 3 MB hero image, 40-variant product.
Mobile reality check—Chrome dev tools throttled to slow 3G.
Feature bingo—quick-add, mega menu, swatches, cart drawer, language switcher.
Speed audit—Lighthouse + real-device stopwatch.
Write-up—Pros, cons, niche fit; no fluff, no word salad.
Quarterly retest—When the theme updates, so does the review.
Who’s “We” If There Are No Faces?
Theme Hub is a small collective of e-commerce builders, performance nerds, and writers who prefer keyboards to headshots. No investors, no sales team—just people who enjoy breaking themes so you don’t have to.
About the Money
Links marked “Try Theme” may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Reviews go live before tracking codes are added, and our verdict never changes to please a partner. Coffee money, not editorial control.
